Professor Liu Xinzhi from the University of Waterloo was invited to give lectures at our school.

On the afternoon of May 22, 2019, Prof. Liu Xinzhi from the University of Waterloo, Canada, was invited to give a lecture entitled “Hybrid Control of Multi-Agent Systems” at the School of Science 206. Teachers and Ph.D. students from the School of Science, the School of Finance and Economics and the School of Electrical Engineering listened to the lectures, which were hosted by Professor Yao Hongxing.

Professor Liu Xinzhi first introduced the characteristics of the University of Waterloo in Canada, focusing on the wide-ranging application of distributed coordination of multi-agent systems in spacecraft formation flying, multi-robot coordination, coordinated control of clusters and vehicle formations. Throughout the report, Professor Liu’s novel thinking, humorous and humorous, and fascinating, have repeatedly inspired the broad interest and heated discussion of the teachers and students, broadened the professional vision of teachers and students, and increased the interest of research. The report also discussed hybrid control issues for multi-agent systems with fixed topologies and switched topologies. After the report, Professor Liu had an in-depth exchange discussion with the teachers and students present. His profound knowledge and wonderful speech won the applause of the teachers and students on the spot. The teachers and students expressed great benefits and the report achieved the expected results.

Professor Liu Xinzhi is currently a professor of applied mathematics at the University of Waterloo, Canada, chairman of the Chinese Professors Association of the University of Waterloo, and a special professor of the Changjiang Scholars Awards Program (the third batch) of the Ministry of Education. He was employed by Huazhong University of Science and Technology in January 2001. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1988. He was employed by the University of Waterloo in Canada in 1990 and was appointed as a tenured professor in 1994. His research interests include hybrid systems, nonlinear system control and stability, synchronization of complex networks, economic complex systems, and confidential communications. He has published more than 300 academic papers in the world, including more than 100 articles in SCI, and completed 6 projects. Major scientific research projects funded by the Canadian Natural Science and Engineering Fund, with 5 academic monographs and more than 20 academic works. 6 international academic journal "DCDIS Series A, Mathematical Analysis", "DCDIS Series B, Applications and Algorithms", and editor of "Journal of Nonlinear Systems and Applications", and also served as deputy editor of five international magazines.
